Over the weekend I upgraded my Zabbix infrastructure from 3.0 to 4.0. Nevertheless I still have some old Ubuntu 12.04 machines which will be dismissed in short time, but I’d still like to monitor.

So I compiled 4.0.19 for Ubuntu 12.04 and made it available on a PPA. It can be easily installed with:

apt-get install python-software-properties
add-apt-repository ppa:lorenzo-milesi/zabbix-4.0-precise
apt-get update
apt-get install zabbix-agent

I had some problems with java binaries so I cannot assure they will work. I successfully tested agent and proxy-sqlite3.
